The Stage 1 Fire Ban has been lifted in unincorporated areas of Fremont County along with areas in the Canon City Area Fire Protection District and the Florence Fire District (that includes Penrose). This means you may now have campfires. As always, you must have a burn permit and permission prior to open burning.
Upcoming FAR Events
What: 1st annual Fremont Adventure Recreation Farm-to-Table 5Mile Run & Dinner, a 4-lap run showcasing the historic farmland and current agricultural offerings of Cañon City’s growers and culinary artists.
When: Saturday, August 25th, 2018 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Where: Fun run start / finish and dinner at The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey
Cost: $30 per person ($25 youth or no wine) - includes run entry, commemorative reusable shopping bag, light dinner, four wine sample pairings, and entertainment.
What: First annual Royal 50 Mountain Bike Race (with 20-mile option)
When: Saturday, September 22nd at 8:00 a.m.
Where: Royal Gorge Park Trails + Royal Gorge Bridge & Park
Cost: $85 per rider (includes t-shirt, meal, Odell beer, and supported ride)
Cañon City's first ever mountain bike ride will take place on the new Royal Gorge Park Trails. These challenging 50- and 20-mile course options will leave you breathless and inspired as you traverse some of the most gorgeous vistas in Southern Colorado.
