runBlossom - May 4th, 2024
Since 2005, the annual runBlossom race has helped usher in the summer season in Cañon City. As the snow melts and the leaves begin to adorn trees, runners of all ages come together to celebrate the Cañon City Music and Blossom Festival. The runBlossom 5K event showcases the Arkansas Rivewalk Trail, running alongside the river and through some of the most scenic portions of the area. This race also is proud to welcome Cañon City Schools' Youth Exercise Training Initiative (YETI) participants.
Join the event on the Saturday morning, then head downtown to take part in any of the other activities happening throughout the weekend. You'll find a parade, craft fair, carnival, and much more.

Competitive wave: Are you looking to PR? Been training? Want to win an age-group award? This wave is for you! We'll start bright and early at 8:00 am at Centennial Park on this scenic, flat, 5K course.
Walk/Jog + YETI Wave: Are you looking for a slower, non-competitive pace? Want to run / walk with a YETI student runner? Join this wave at 8:45 am. We'll have a mass start (but don't worry, your times are still chip timed) after the running wave at Centennial Park. Enjoy your own pace, but please know that the aid stations and finish line will be packed up at 9:45. (Many of our volunteers have other responsibilities during this busy Blossom weekend and we thank you for your understanding!)
SWAG:
In an effort to keep the cost of running low, we've started the event at a base price of just $15. This fee includes a swag bag, bib, chip timing, and aid stations. If you'd like to add a tee to registration, you may do so before April 15th. Cost is $16 per shirt.

A note on chip timing: Please note that you will likely have two finishing times - Chip Elapsed time and Gun Elapsed time. Remember that even though we start the clock and record a gun time (mostly as a fail-safe and for our records), your unique chip start time was recorded when you passed the sensors. Therefore, your faster (and more accurate) time is the Chip Elapsed time.
If, by chance, your chip was not read at the starting line at the exact time you passed under the sensors (you were directly hidden by the line of sight by another participant, your bib was obscured, etc.), your time will show 00:00:00.0 in the "chip time" column and your overall time will default to the gun time.
Overall winners will be determined using the chip time.
