We are an organization born of a love of outdoor recreation. FAR was formed in 2010 in order to bring outdoor recreation opportunities, including events, to Fremont County. Since then, we have also become involved in trail involvement through our relationship with the Lower Arkansas Mountain Bike Association. Today, we are committed to fostering a culture of outdoor recreation by hosting athletic events, funding trail construction, assisting municipal entities with trail planning, fostering young and beginning athletes, providing support to our partner organizations, and engaging in meaningful conversations regarding responsible recreation and land management.
Our board members are volunteers who lend their expertise, their passion, and their efforts to making progress in our community. Change, projects, events, and progress do not come easy, but we appreciate your support as we diligently move forward with making GREAT things happen!

Joan Sindler With her husband and children, Joan moved to Cañon City in the 1980's and established a medical practice in town - which they still operate. An avid artist and outdoorswoman, Joan often weaves the outdoors into her award-winning artwork, which has been on display in various shows and locations across the state. She is a mountain biker, skier, runner, and overall outdoor enthusiast.
