Cañon City is located about 1 hour southwest of Colorado Springs and 2 hours southwest of Denver. The nearest regional airport is in Pueblo (30 mins) and the nearest larger airport is Colorado Springs - COS (1 hr).

Outdoor Recreation

Whether you're looking for a high adventure or a mellow walk through pinon forests, you'll find it in Cañon City. The region boasts some of most exciting whitewater stretches (including the Royal Gorge) in the western US, over 62 miles of singletrack trail, and views that rival some of the most iconic in the nation. 

Visit Centennial Park downtown as your "adventure hub" for the weekend. The park features: access to the Riverwalk, South Cañon Trails, a park, pavilion, restrooms, tennis courts, a splash pad for the kids, a surf wave, and a public boating takeout / put-in.  

Festivals

The Blossom Festival is the largest community run school music competition in the state.
Jazz Band Competitions are held at the Florence High School Performing Arts Center and Concert Choirs at the Steeples Event Center. Held each year on the first full weekend of May, the festival also features the annual Royal Gorge Rodeo, full-scale carnival, arts and craft shows, a traditional hometown parade, and so much more. 

The 14th Annual Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival (RGWF) features whitewater competitions and land-based recreation events to celebrate the whitewater season on the Arkansas River. Enjoy summer flows in a fantastic whitewater setting in historic Cañon City, Colorado. Held in the refurbished and family-friendly Centennial Park, the Whitewater Festival pairs boats, bands, and beer for a weekend of fun-filled (and whitewater-fueled) events. It's the biggest party of the summer in Cañon City and one not to be missed! Proceeds of this event benefit the Cañon City community. All are welcome to register for events or to watch the fun unfold!
