Youth EXERCISE Training Initiative
The Youth Exercise Training Initiative (Y.E.T.I.) program is designed to encourage students enrolled in Fremont County Schools to participate in health related activities in the community. Through the program students will participate in a four-week training program that culminates with participation in the runBlossom 5k race held the first Saturday in May. As part of the training program, students will meet twice a week for four weeks in April.
With their coach (teachers or volunteers from their school), students participate in activities that will help them to prepare for a 5k run, including nutrition discussions, stretching, and conditioning. The cost of the program is $10 and interested students can sign up at their respective schools starting in April.
YETI is a collaborative effort between the Canon City Music & Blossom Festival, Fremont Adventure Recreation and Fremont Regional Wellness.
Sign up sheets and calendars will be sent home in the spring. Check with your child's school to register your student. If you'd like to sponsor a YETI runner, please click the below button to donate $5 or more. Your support helps us to keep the cost of this program low: each student pays just $5 and receives coaching, a t-shirt, and a bib on race day.
We are grateful to Southern Colorado Runners for sponsoring Y.E.T.I. this year. Their contributions help us to provide a low-cost experience for local youth.
